I don’t make puddings, cakes, desserts that often because my husband and I try to avoid sweetened foods as much as possible. However, I love to eat a small piece of dark chocolate everyday and enjoy indulging in occasional treat once every week. This chocolate marmalade mousse has everything you’ll love. Its egg less and flour less, have a rich chocolate and orange flavor without being too sweet.
Mousse is an elegant dessert, typically made with whipped egg whites or cream, and generally flavored with chocolate, which can be had with variety of sauces, cakes or fruits. I decided to go with cream, chocolate and marmalade. The great thing about this recipe is that it is outrageously simple. The idea of using marmalade in mousse came, when I saw orange marmalade nearing expiry and I desperately needed a recipe to finish it off. While I was researching, I came across this milk chocolate marmalade mousse recipe in Globe and Mail.
Orange and chocolate are a harmonious combo, don’t you agree?
The recipe called for bitter sweet chocolate. From what I know, bitter sweet chocolate has a bit more sugar and a bit less cocoa than the 70% dark chocolate I used. So, if you are looking for a sweeter mousse then add chocolate with less cocoa or a different marmalade other than orange. I topped each cup of mousse with some extra whipped cream and a tiny bit of orange marmalade. The creamy dark chocolate folded in orange marmalade was incredible. It was a nice end to our tasty Friday night dinner ( next post).
CHOCOLATE MARMALADE MOUSSE (serves 6)
source: Milk Chocolate Marmalade mousse
Ingredients:
1/2 cup chocolate milk (at room temperature)
8 oz bitter sweet chocolate, chopped ( I used Lindt with 70% cocoa)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup favorite marmalade ( I have used orange)
Method:
- Combine chocolate milk with chocolate in a medium pot. Whisk over a pot of boiling water until melted. Stir in vanilla. Remove from heat. Let it cool.
- Whip cream until soft peaks form and fold into cooled chocolate mixture.
- Fill each espresso or any cup half full of mousse.
- Dollop in some marmalade. Add more chocolate mousse.
- Refrigerate for 4 hours or over night. Top the mousse with whipped cream and little marmalade if desired.

I too am not into desserts but like you said, a bite of choc after dining is great. This lovely choc mousse should do the same for my taste, as a light refreshing dessert but just a small quantity.

I like your recipe with the orange marmalade, because usual I add cointreau to mine and every good choco mousse needs some slight hint of orange. thanks for sharing! =)
