Garlic and Brown Sugar Cheese Ball And Give Away Winner!!!

by Balvinder. 21 Comments

As promised, today’s recipe is from Jess Mcloskey’s Book “Delicious Gifts”.

While flipping through the pages in order to decide what to cook I stopped at this recipe of a cream cheese ball. The unique combination caught my attention. By far cream cheese dips and spreads are among my favorite. So when I read garlic, brown sugar and pecans, I had a gut feeling this is going to be good. And, when I actually made it you won’t believe how good it was.

My badminton buddies enjoyed and asked, Why I never made this for the party?

Well, How could I? I haven’t had the book before.

The sweetness of brown sugar perfectly complements the garlicky spiced cheese and pecan coating takes it to the next level. I am pretty sure this will be the first appetizer to disappear if you make it for a get together. We enjoyed eating the garlic and brown sugar cheese ball with gluten free crackers.

GARLIC AND BROWN SUGAR CHEESE BALL

source: from Jess Mckloskey’s book, Delicious Gifts

Ingredients:

1/2 cup cream cheese

3/4 cup sharp white cheddar cheese

1 big fat clove of garlic minced

salt and black pepper to taste

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp brown sugar

3 tbsp chopped pecans

Method:

Mix together the garlic, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, salt and pepper. Shape gently into one tennis ball and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Meanwhile, heat together the butter and brown sugar until the sugar is incorporated with the butter. You can do this either on the stove top or in the microwave, but be sure to stir continually so that they do not separate. allow to cool at room temperature.

Spread the brown sugar mix over the chilled cheese ball. This process does involve a fair bit of scooping up the mixture and letting it drip back down; you want to have a good coverage of the brown sugar mix over the entire ball.

Sprinkle the crushed nuts over the ball or roll which ever works best for you. (Chill before presenting as a gift). Serve at room temperature with crackers. Store covered at room temperature for up to 1 week.

Here is the result for the giveaway book.

That’s the worst! I do it all the time though – spend like 2 or 3 hours trying to figure something out and someone shows you how to do it and it takes like 5 minutes. So frustrating sometimes…

When you say “one big fat clove of garlic” does that mean “one LARGE clove”? 🙂 One can never use enough garlic! This does sounds, and LOOKS like an irresistible cheese ball! I have everything I need but the crackers. Guess I’ll have to make some crackers. Mouthwatering snack! Congratulations Soni!

Hi Neetu! Actually… “screen shot” I meant was to do “Ctrl + Alt + PrntScr” and paste it on Paint. But I’m glad your way worked! 🙂 I was happy to help. 🙂
