Easy Homemade Mango Salad Dressing

by Balvinder. 29 Comments

We had a big lunch yesterday so I thought to have salad for dinner with some tasty mango dressing. I am trying to take full advantage of mango season by adding them in breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you too, are a passionate mango lover then today’s salad dressing is for you.

Updated with new pictures and the video (Originally posted May 2013).

The combination of fruit in the dressing always give a wonderful delicious flavor. This dressing combines season’s sweet mango with red wine vinegar for an intense flavor that can transform any bowl of salad,  into a gourmet meal. The salad I made was nothing fancier, there was chopped romaine lettuce, sliced red pepper, zucchini, carrot, radish and onion rings. In addition to that I added sliced tandoori chicken and drizzled mango dressing on top.

Mangoes taste really good in dressing, plus the dressing gets creamy without any addition of eggs or mayo.

I have made dressings with berries other than mango but never tried any vegetable. Good to know, though.

Can I use just normal red or white vinegar Masi?

I don’t see any reason why you can not substitute? But remember, each type of vinegar has its own distinctive flavor. I don’t know how red vinegar taste like so can not speak about it. White vinegar is very harsh, it won’t be a good substitute. The one I think the best is rice vinegar, its taste is sweet and delicate.

What a brilliant idea! I just bought a mango and was trying to decide what to do with it other than just eating it because I love mango. I’m going to make this salad dressing. I can’t imagine it not being absolutely fantastic.
