Honey Jones on Sweet and Spicy Parsnip soup

Made this soup last night with the following modifications: Used canned pears and saved the natural syrup for the “gastrique”. I simmered the syrup down and added a shake of tumeric and two shakes of chili powder – it turned the syrup a beautiful yellow and the chili powder dotted the clear candy. I just had a cup of the soup for lunch; can I tell you that it is better the second day? Magnificently hearty, with a ginger floral sweet taste. This recipe is a winner!

Gf and me – Tried and tested

Then I remembered a recipe I’d seen on Simple Gluten Free Kitchen for linzer cookies and I decided to try it. It worked great! The dough rolled out nicely, didn’t spread too much, and the result is a mild almond and vanilla wafer.

Sridevi Ravi (email)

I have attached a picture of my mango chutney I made on Friday. It was excellent and was received with great enthusiasm at home. I am planning to make it again as I have some more mangoes. A wonderful recipe! Thank you.

An email from a reader dated March 31, 2014

I came across your gluten free blog, as I am planning a baby shower for a friend who is allergic to gluten. I am a student in Edmonton and planning a shower for a friend (in Saskatoon), so I am looking for some easy finger food items. I want to shop from here and organize things in saskatoon when I get there, hence I am looking for quick recipes. My friend and the mom to be is Caucasian but loves Indian food (sans spice though I guess). So far I am planning to have fruit platter and veggies (with gluten free dressing). I will also make the idlis from the Gits packet (as per your blog). Thinking about some sort of a punch for drinks, but since it is going to be a co-ed shower I need some heavy food items for the guys. Could you please suggest me some recipes as well? I was thinking about poha and perhaps some sort of pasta, but I am not sure if pasta has gluten.

I would really appreciate your help. However, if it is easier for you to talk on the phone, I would be more than happy to call you as we are in the same country 🙂

> Thanks in advance for your help 🙂

Chai a cup of life – on warm millet salad for chickpea salad

Chick pea salad went well. thank you! I changed it a tad: I didn’t add Dijon mustard and baked broccoli and some cauliflower before adding. Two thumbs up, my husband took it to work for lunch. Thanks Balvinder :-)
